security concerns with swiftly
this version adds a global search functionality called ‘swiftly’, triggered by double cmd hits.
besideds its annoyance, by default, this swiftly thing scans my contacts and applications. I wasn’t expecting this — why would I expect an instant messenger will scan data on my local disk? when you do something like that, you should consent your users, instead of starting collecting their private information silently. who knows if your next version will silently start scanning my bank passwords or credit cards?
I usually don’t mind sharing some information with online services, if they ask politely and I can sense that the sharing is necessary to make certain services convenient. but this is beyond my bottomline.
